The Board of Trustees
Navajo Preparatory School, Inc. is governed by a four member Board of Trustees. Members are elected from the Navajo Nation Agencies, in accordance with Navajo Nation Election Laws, and one member is appointed as a non-voting ad-hoc member
Anderson Yazzie Jr.
Mr. Yazzie was elected in 2012. Mr. Yazzie is originally from Chinle, AZ and is currently employed with the State of Arizona – Department of Education. Mr. Yazzie brings over 10 years of educational experience with him to the board.
Charley Long Sr.
Mr. Long has been a member of the Navajo Preparatory School board of trustees since 2009. Mr. Long previously served two terms on the Board of Trustees from January 1991 to December 2001. Mr. Long also served on the Navajo Board of Election Supervisors. Mr. Long is from the Thoreau Community.
Ft. Defiance Agency
Mr. Roanhorse was elected to the Navajo Preparatory School Board of Trustees in fall 2014. Born in Gallup, N.M. and raised in the Steamboat/Ganado Community, Mr. Roanhorse currently works in Government Affairs at PNM Resources. Previously, Mr. Roanhorse was Chief of Staff at the Navajo Nation Office of the President and Vice President. Mr. Roanhorse graduated from Navajo Prep in 1999 and went on to college to attain a Dual Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science and English from the University of New Mexico.
Member at Large
Mr. Tso was elected to the Navajo Preparatory School Board of Trustees and is the current Tse D’aa Kaan (Hogback) Chapter Vice President in November 2016. Born in Farmington, N.M. and reared in the Tse D’aa Kaan (Hogback)/Shiprock communities, Mr. Tso presently works as a Legislative Analyst with the Department of Diné Education in Window Rock, AZ. Mr. Tso was also a former elected member of the Central Consolidated School District (CCSD) school board and member of the San Juan College Board of Trustees. Mr. Tso graduated from Shiprock High School in 1996 and went on to graduate with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Government from Dartmouth College in Hanover, N.H.
